View Samples of Our Work

Below are samples of Good Company’s work that our clients ask for the most including life-cycle carbon footprints (greenhouse gas inventories), sustainability performance assessments, sustainability plans and stakeholder engagement and communications. These samples are limited to reports that are available in the public domain to respect the confidentiality of our clients’ business development activities and operations.
Innovative geographic and consumption-based  regional community greenhouse gas inventory for regional government. Metro, a regional government that serves 1.5 million residents and 25 cities, is a true pioneer in regional sustainability and climate change efforts. With Good Company’s assistance in developing carbon footprint methodology and performing emissions analysis for the innovative geographic and consumption-based regional community greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory, this inventory and resulting action plan has become a guiding document for similar regional community GHG efforts such as the Lane Council of Governments and the Rogue Valley Council of Governments. View Metro’s climate change efforts and the inventory. View the Lane Council of Governments’ inventory and greenhouse gas reduction planning. View the Rogue Valley Council of Governments’ inventory and opportunities for greenhouse gas reduction planning.
Fresherized Foods' Sustainability Committment Sustainability assessment, management system and positioning strategy for a food processor. Good Company has performed a sustainability assessment and sustainability management system for Fresherized Foods so that they can satisfy their clients’ requests for meeting sustainability best management practices. This includes accounting and reporting of more sustainable operations for key clients such as Walmart’s Supplier Sustainability Assessment, a greenhouse gas inventory of their operations, climate action recommendations and sustainability positioning and communications strategy. View their sustainability reporting website.
Project-based life-cycle greenhouse gas emissions inventory of a 3MW solar facility for development in highway right of way. Good Company completed the life-cycle greenhouse gas inventory of the Oregon Department of Transportation Solar Highway Program’s proposed design concept of the 3MW West Linn solar facility, the largest solar facility developed in the highway right of way. Emissions sources considered included embodied emissions from the production of the PV panels, other construction and maintenance materials and engineering services; tailpipe emissions from construction and ongoing maintenance actvities; displaced grid electricity generation emissions from the project’s solar power generation over 30 years; grid electricity emissions from onsite use by lights and security cameras; and recycling of PV panels and construction materials at the decommissioning of the project. View the project-based inventory and other project materials.
Most comprehensive greenhouse gas inventory for higher education campus. Good Company conducted the most comprehensive greenhouse gas emissions inventory for the operations of University of Texas at Austin serving 48,000 students, including the 40-acre campus and more than ten million square feet of building space. The final inventory includes customized methodology to estimate embodied supply-chain emissions from material flows and purchases by the university using economic input-output life cycle assessment (EIO-LCA). The inventory is now integrated with on-going energy efficiency investments, and serves as the foundation for the university’s sustainability and climate action plan. View the inventory.
Multi-campus university system greenhouse gas inventory and climate action planning. Oregon University System, consisting of seven public, four-year universities, has set an example of sustainability and climate commitment by engaging Good Company in three phases of work:  (1) facilitation of a sustainability plan, (2) development of a seven-campus system-wide greenhouse gas inventory, and (3) assistance in climate action planning and strategy implementation support. Each phase of work addressed the high-consensus sustainability indicators of a system in order to facilitate cross-institutional collaboration, assessment and performance in areas that outstrip the purview or capacity of each individual institution. Electric utility sustainability report using the Global Reporting Initiative framework. Eugene Water & Electric Board wanted to become a sustainability leader in the electric utility industry. They are on their way with Good Company’s guidance in completing a baseline sustainability assessment and report including a carbon footprint of the utility’s power portfolio based on the Global Reporting Initiative’s reporting framework and making recommendations moving forward to track, report and increase their social, environmental and economic performance. View the 2008 and 2009 reports and other sustainability materials.
Sustainability reporting and strategic communications for renewable energy development projects. The Oregon Department of Transportation’s Solar Highway Program needed technical analysis of the carbon footprint of the development projects and sustainability reporting and communications for multiple solar projects being installed in the federal right of way. Good Company lined up the necessary public-private partnerships for project success, performed technical analysis of the carbon payback period of the projects and produced multiple public information reports addressing citizen concerns related to the projects. View the public information reports addressing solar glare potential and other stakeholder issues.
Sustainability framework, plan and program development for a state transportation agency. The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) became a leader in sustainability with Good Company’s facilitation through the process of sustainability program development including the first comprehensive and strategic sustainability plan and program for a transportation agency, integration of existing initiatives and efforts, establishment of an internal work plan, capacity building for executives and staff and formation of a Sustainability Council for planning and oversight. View Volume 1 of the Sustainability Plan, a multi-year document that provides the overall vision and rationale for ODOT’s sustainability efforts and provides background for the other volumes. View Volume 2 of the Sustainability Plan which focuses on ODOT internal goals, operations and strategies for achieving sustainability. Volume 3, focuses on ODOT’s management of the statewide transportation system for sustainability and is not yet in the public domain.
Greenhouse gas inventory of electric utility operations and power portfolio. The Eugene Water & Electric Board wanted to calculate the carbon footprint and future related risk in a cap and trade scenario. Good Company completed a baseline greenhouse gas inventory of their operations and of their power portfolio compliant with The Climate Registry Electric Power Sector Protocol. Actions plans are under development that prioritize emissions tracking and reporting, set reduction goals, target ways to reduce carbon emissions, and determine how to best measure and report on progress. View the inventory and related climate change materials.
Program evaluation and opportunities recommendations for three government-funded sustainability business assistance programs. Good Company in partnership with EnviroIssues surveyed, interviewed and facilitated discussions with over 400 business sustainability program participants and interviewed the 10 most innovative and successful sustainability business program managers for local governments across the country to evaluate the existing business assistance programs, identify best management practices and prioritize new program recommendations for the City of Portland’s Bureau of Planning and Sustainability business assistance programs including Recycle at Work, Portland Composts! and BEST Business Center.
