Toneys supports Good Company's clients with technical research. He works primarily with business and higher education clients, focusing on greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories, climate action planning, and sustainability assessments.
His current work includes conducting a comprehensive GHG inventory for the University of Texas at Austin. He is also working with Kennedy/Jenks Consultants (large private-sector environmental consulting firm) and SAIF Corporation (insurance company) to complete a GHG inventory, develop a climate action strategy and provide GHG inventory training to build each organization’s internal capacity. (Click here for more information about Good Company's climate services.)
Other recent work includes a feasibility study for the University of Oregon to quantify increased GHG emissions resulting from under-inflated vehicle tires and to determine the potential for a mitigation project based on proper inflation, a life-cycle GHG analysis for a portion of the City of Eugene's supply chain and a life-cycle GHG analysis for a privately-funded renewable energy project.
He is also working as project staff for the Columbia River Clean Diesel Project, which is a private-public partnership intended to bring together the Port of Portland and Vancouver with their freight hauling partners to develop a strategy to voluntarily reduce diesel emissions.
Before joining Good Company, Toneys spent eight years at Rayovac Corporation as a product design engineer developing various battery technologies, including rechargeable lithium-ion, primary lithium and zinc-air. He also worked in environmental management at Country Coach, a recreational vehicle manufacturer, where he coordinated and developed programs in hazardous waste management and reduction, stormwater, air quality, and recycling.
In Eugene, Toneys participates in two community programs pursuing environmental change through consumer action and citizen education: Climate Masters, who provide residential and commercial greenhouse gas consultations, and Master Recyclers, whose consultations help businesses and households to reduce waste, increase recycling and rethink material use.
Toneys has a BS in Environmental Science (Physical Resource Management) from the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay. He is a LEED™ Accredited Professional.
