Stakeholder Engagement and Communications

Need to meet with key stakeholders in a decision process or project to create a win-win situation? Does your project or initiative need a facilitator to guide important discussions and public meetings? Do you need research conducted to address public concerns in a series of public brochures or information papers?

One method used by Good Company to ensure project success is stakeholder engagement. Stakeholder engagement involves meetings, interviews and facilitated discussions to take into account the concerns and objectives in the decision-making process of an initiative or project. Stakeholders or interested parties may include employees, community members, pubic interest groups, business partners and advocacy groups with varying perspectives, priorities and limitations about the initiative or project.

Good Company’s extensive work with internal and external stakeholder engagement for Oregon-based organizations and development projects over the last ten years has grounded us in an understanding of the interests, politics and capacities of the local jurisdictions, metropolitan planning organizations, transit agencies, advocacy groups and communities of western Oregon and specifically, the Willamette Valley.

For development projects, Good Company utilizes the Context Sensitive and Sustainable Solutions (CS3) approach in support of the development of a public involvement and communications strategy. The CS3 approach requires the early involvement of internal and external stakeholders and an early understanding of and engagement on issues and opportunities during project development.  This early engagement provides the maximum flexibility to address project issues and opportunities during the planning and design phases, leverages the public involvement and communications strategy and avoids unanticipated costs and project delays.

Highlighted Projects:

Good Company developed the guidebook, Solar Highway Program: From Concept to Reality, A Guidebook for Developing Utility-Scale Solar Generation in the Highway Right of Way for the Oregon Department of Transportation’s Solar Highway Program.  This work involves an extensive literature review and program manager and partner interviews to identify the lessons learned and best management practices in a “how to” guide and feasibility checklist to support other transportation agencies in developing similar Solar Highway Programs to develop solar projects in the highway right of way to power transportation operations.
Good Company provided outreach and education to engineering and construction firms involved in the Oregon Department of Transportation’s ten-year bridge redevelopment program of over 400 bridges about the Clean Fuel for Bridges Project sponsored by the Lane Regional Air Protection Agency. The program provided a fuel subsidy to bridge contractors that purchase cleaner burning diesel fuels for their on- and off-road equipment. View more information about the project.
